How "The Beast From The East" Helped
Here's a story that I hope will inspire you when you get faced with a block or challenge to what you are trying to do:
Lynn Hord invited me to speak at her in person Joy Jam Sessions meet up group today about
getting to your unique brilliance,
standing out from your competition and
creating a deeper impact on the clients and
attracting the right clients for you with less effort, especially through scientific hand and fingerprint analysis.
We planned it a while ago and I was so looking forward to it. I enjoy speaking in front of an audience (Gifted Messenger in the Spotlight is one of my life purposes as revealed in my fingerprints) so I had my talk planned, along with a hand-out for those who wanted to know more from me.
But as this week progressed it became clear that the "Beast From the East" snow was going to keep people home. I didn't even want to go out in this weather myself (yes, even with my spotlight life purpose, as I also have a Hermit archetype in my hands and sometimes she wants to be in charge - like when its so cold outside!) so I fully understood.
However, I'm a natural problem solver and opportunity seeker (I have the gift marker Gifted Problem Solver in my hands too) and it seemed a no brainer to suggest to Lynn that she turn the in-person meet-up into an online one using the Zoom break-out room feature. She'd never done anything like it before, but luckily Lynn is opportunity driven too and totally got it.
Here is what Lynn said: "It was amazing how it all unfolded, Helen, and I couldn't agree more. This totally would not have been on my radar had it not been for the snow as I know how much value in-person connection brings and how much it is needed by most of us. When you suggested the idea of online I recognised it could still fulfil my intention of helping people feel connected and inspired and luckily we were both willing to try the 'experiment' as I called it :) Now I can see that this is going to be a huge bonus for the community I am building and give people access to each other who may be further afield or not able to make it to London for whatever reason. On the call you actually said, it was likely this happened because I needed to have this experience - and I completely agree! Thank you for the suggestion and for your adaptability and for being a catalyst."
We may not have got as many online as might have come to an in person meet up on a good day, but given we gave them less than 24 hours notice we did amazingly well and two people who would never have made the in person meet up loved being able to join in. The attendees loved the event and want Lynn to do more.
The point of this quick article is to remind you that sometimes things go wrong through no fault of our own, but we can seek the opportunity in the challenge and that often leads to something new and exciting!
Given how amazingly this session went you can see from Lynn's comment above, that she is now keen to add these types of online meet-ups to what she offers - and she's great at it. You should have seen how lit up she was doing it!!! :) - something not planned or even conceived 24 hours before... Without this challenge it may have been ages before she considered doing anything of the sort.
So whatever the challenge or blocks you face, seek the opportunity in them! It's how you'll find the things that make you different, that help you stand out from what everyone else is doing.
